This January I wanted to kick off 2024 with self-care and well-being at the center of ROSE & HERB, so what better way than to launch a new aromatherapy collection. The essential collection includes four amazing essential oils; eucalyptus, lavender, may chang and ylang ylang all infused into a range of soy candles, wax melts and reed diffusers.
Since launching ROSE & HERB in April 2021 we have had several request from our customers for a home fragrance line that included pure essential oils. After much deliberation, research and experimentation I have finally created a range and extended our product lines to include a collection made solely from pure essential oils in the form of the essential collection.
The first scent I would like to introduce to you is Eucalyptus; known for its decongestant and therapeutic properties it is a great choice to help promote tranquillity within your home. According to Health Line it has been shown to include anti-anxiety properties, calming the nervous system and promoting relaxation. This is a great scent to use in the bathroom to create a spa-like experience or to use when you are meditating, practicing yoga or even Tai Chi as it may help center the mind. Another great benefit of eucalyptus highlighted by Science Direct is that it is a natural insect repellent, making it a great choice for areas of your house where you want to repel bugs.
The second scent is essential lavender, known as one of the most relaxing and calming essential oils, its floral herbaceous scent will help create a fresh and soothing space within your home. Many studies have shown that there is strong evidence that lavender essential oil can help reduce anxiety, stress, depression and insomnia [1]. I have been growing lavender in my garden for many years now and we love to harvest the buds in July/August and make some of our lavender bags. It has become a annual ritual that I love to do with my girls Iman and Nailah-Rose, you can watch the cutest video of Nailah-Rose helping me make a batch here. Lavender has always been my go-to essential oil when I feel stressed and I have placed one of my essential lavender diffusers in my bedroom to help promote a good nights sleep.
The next scent I would like to introduce is essential May Chang (Litsea Cubeba) which has a sweet and citrus scent, similar to lemongrass. This is my favourite essential oil at the moment, I love to use it whilst I am meditating or taking a long soak in the bath. I love May Chang because I find that it is a great mood booster and helps me to feel calm and focused. This is one of the benefits associated with this oil according to several studies, where it was recorded that individuals felt an improvement in their mood and a reduction in their stress levels [3]. Probably why I love it so much lol! . May Chang is also a natural insect repellent like Eucalyptus.
The last scent of the collection is essential Ylang Ylang, a luxuriously complex scent, sweet, musky and seductive. Known as the flower of flowers, it will create an air of decadence in your home or office. When I first described this scent in a recent YouTube video I called it “a little bit sexy” and after doing a little research I discovered that Ylang Ylang is used in many cultures as an aphrodisiac and can contribute to increased sexual desire by creating a sensual and relaxed atmosphere [4]. Well I never folks, I think this one might be a favourite for Valentines day, honeymoon gifts and date nights. As well as these titillating claims this essential oil also claims to alleviate anxiety, improve your mood, reduce stress and repel insects [5]. Whats not to love about this incredible scent.
